I am a PhD candidate at the University of Pittsburgh, working primarily in philosophy of language, social and political philosophy, and their intersections. My dissertation investigates how informal social structures shape the normative landscape of our real, non-ideal world. Within this larger project, I am particularly grabbed by one kind of social structure: the linguistic and hermeneutical conventions that ground our sense-making practices.
I am currently writing papers on event-labels, hermeneutical injustice, and structural injustice (esp. what is wrong with it). Check them here: https://sites.google.com/view/mengyuanqi/home.
Outside of philosophy, I enjoy climbing, swimming, and playing board games.
