My primary interests are in Kant’s philosophy and the philosophy of mind.
My present research centers on self-knowledge. I aim to give a Kantian account of knowledge of mental states, and of the body, that preserves that knowledge’s first-person character while nevertheless giving inner sense a role. I see a novel solution in Kant’s account of reflection, developed in the Critique of the Power of Judgment. This has led me to think about the connections Kant makes among his concepts of truth, mind, feeling, and life.
Further afield, I am interested in the relationship between being creative and being rational.
Before coming to Pitt in 2020, I completed an M.A. in Philosophy at UC Santa Cruz.
