Before coming to Pitt, I completed an integrated Master’s in Physics and Philosophy at the University of Oxford. Expectedly, my central research interests lie within the philosophy of physics and in metaphysics. I'm particularly intrigued by questions regarding the ontology underlying our best physical theories and the interface between concepts in analytic metaphysics and theoretical physics (such as the nature of time and the concept of numerical identity within relativist and quantum mechanical theories). Among other topics, I have worked on the metaphysics of spacetime geometry, the ontology of quantum theory and conceptions of laws of nature.

Outside of contemporary philosophy of science, I have further interests in topics in the history of science (particularly, the development of relativistic theories) and in ancient philosophy of science. Wholly outside of topics in science, I have found great interest in the philosophy of language and logic. Although I lean towards formal methodology in studying language, I also pursue topics regarding the social and political dimensions of language use.
