My interests are in general philosophy of science, the philosophy of AI, and the philosophy and history of mathematics. More specifically, I’ve been working on questions about models and explanations, the science of deep learning, trust and values in science, and the evolution of different notions of rigor in mathematics, German mathematics during the late 19th century. My approach to philosophy is informed by the history of philosophy but also the history of the scientific disciplines I find fascinating.

I grew up in Northern Germany where I obtained a B.A. in Mathematics and Philosophy at the University of Kiel. After that, I obtained an M.Sc. in “Logic, Computation, and Methodology” at Carnegie Mellon University, in Pittsburgh. I joined Pitt Philosophy in January 2021.

In my rare free time during graduate school, I enjoy cooking and traveling, if I am not found reading novels. Also, I am co-chair of the MAP chapter in philosophy. My pronouns are she/her.
